As a chairman of the permanent competition board Michal Kanka supervised the 69th International competition of the Prague spring in fields harpsichord and violin.
Mini tour through Japan. Elgar concert with the Gunma symphony orch. and conductor Joseph Wolf + recitals in Yokohama, Nagoya and Kyoto with the pianist Iku Miwa.
February/March – the first big tour through the USA and Canada with Jana Vonášková as a primarius of the Prazak quartet.
He was a chief of Jury in the International cello competition of J. Vychytil in Prague between 20th and 22nd of January.
On the 14th of November M. Kanka performed together with the Prague radio orchestra and conductor O. Lenard less known but beautiful and poetic Concerto op. 143 by J. B. Foerster.
On the 19th of October he played together with the pianist Jaromir Klepac a recital in the Dvorak hall of Prague Rudolfinum.The concert was organized by the Chamber music society of Czech Philharmonic.
Since October 2016 Michal Kanka became a member of the Bohuslav Martinu Foundation.
Between 4th and 15th of July he worked as a cello tutor by the International masterclasses in Litomyšl.
